Maria Markovich creates figurative sculpture inspired by the outdoors, using renewable natural materials. She has participated in artist-in-residence programs, among these, Stone Hill Quarry Art Park (NY), Vermont Studio Center (VT), Brush Creek (WY), Hirseholm Artist’s Residency (Denmark), and most recently Bilpin International Grounds for Creative Initiatives (NSW, Australia). She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and her sculpture is in private collections. Maria earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pennsylvania. She also studied Greek and Roman figurative sculpture, earning a four-year Certificate in Sculpture from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Maria lives and works in the Philadelphia area.
